The demand at the capital’s airport BER continues to recover significantly: In September, more than two million passengers traveled within a month for the first time via the airport, which opened almost two years ago, as the operator announced on Friday.

The last time there were so many passengers at Berlin Airports was in February 2020, the last month before the corona restrictions.

“Since the spring, demand for holiday and business trips in the region has developed dynamically and has exceeded our forecast for the year as a whole,” said airport boss Aletta von Massenbach on Friday.

The airport company is therefore now assuming a total of around 18.6 million passengers in 2022 as a whole. So far, she reckoned with only 17 million travelers.

“How traffic will develop in the medium term is also linked to the course of the global corona pandemic, the development of raw material prices and the international security situation,” said von Massenbach.
