In Ghent, a teacher was attacked on Friday by the family of one of his students. “Aggression at school is seriously underestimated,” says criminologist Iris Steenhout (VUB), who is conducting extensive research into the phenomenon for the first time, precisely because the figures that are being communicated today are very low and therefore not credible. “Throwing a chair or slamming doors can also be very drastic for a teacher.”
