A Berlin street musician has been stalked by a fan for ten years: When he shows up, she can no longer play because of fear. The question in court is whether the academic she is obsessed with is now ready for the institution and can be locked away behind bars.
HE sits in the dock: Lucas F. (46), a two-meter man from Weißensee. Profession? “Studied communication designer.” Marital status? “Doubly metaphysically connected,” he says cryptically.
SHE sits in the witness chair: Alice P. (30), blonde and delicate. The South African has lived in Berlin for over ten years. Started as a street musician on the Warschauer Brücke (Friedrichshain). Recently released the 5th album: “Shelter”, which means “refuge”.
Few people know that she herself constantly needs refuge: because the stalker is after her and bombards her with love messages!
HE says: “Our DNA belongs together, that is providence, we are destined for each other! Just because I follow my heart, I risk being locked away! I’m not sick, the system is sick!”
SHE says: “He thinks my lyrics are all about him. Once he grabbed me from behind on the neck while I was playing. He asks if he can move in with me. In 2015 he followed me to South Africa and wanted to live with me! He threatened to slit my and my friend’s throats. I can’t play when he’s around anymore. Have nightmares, anxiety attacks. At the concert in Freiburg, the police came and took him away in handcuffs. As soon as he was released, he was back and carried on.”
HE devours her with his eyes and trembles all over.
SHE says through tears: “Friends are watching everywhere to see if he is there. Security has photos of him. In Treptower Park I had to hide behind a tree. Security stopped him at the Columbia Theater. But this man is becoming more and more aggressive and sexual.”
Already in 2018, an attempt to have the court ban him from any contact failed: not enough had happened yet, it was said at the time…
The process continues.
