A shooting in Vught led to a chase on the A12 near Zoetermeer in the summer of 2021. A collision allowed the police to arrest the three suspects. Images that the police have only now made public show how the action went. After a stop sign, the driver took off at full speed, so the police decided to drive the vehicle off the road.
It is Saturday afternoon, July 31, 2021 when a number of people in the Madeliefstraat in Vught get into an argument. According to a neighbor who called the police, two groups fired at each other.
Towed firearms
However, officers who arrive at the scene find no one on the street. However, they all find traces of blood on the street, as can be heard in the video. The suspects are already in the car on their way to Zoetermeer. Thanks to automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), one of the cars involved in the shooting is spotted on the A12.
And from there there are images from a police car. Because the suspects in the car are armed, the officers have to wait for assistance. When the three suspects drive near Zoetermeer, they get a stop sign. The driver stops and the police get out of the car with guns drawn. But after twenty seconds, the Peugeot takes off anyway and the chase is started.
Laid on highway
To prevent a dangerous and long chase, the officers decide to use their vehicle ‘as a means of violence’, according to the police. Less than a kilometer further, the police car gives the Peugeot a small tap on the rear, after which the car crashes and the suspects end up in the guardrail with their car.
“Rammed, rammed, ambulance, all crosses”, an officer shouts as the car spins around on the A12. After that, at least five officers with drawn pistols aim at the three suspects. They are taken out of the car one by one, placed on the highway and handcuffed.
The three suspects are a 21-year-old and two 23-year-old men from The Hague. Two of the three men were first taken to hospital and then put in jail. They may have been injured in the shooting incident in Vught.

Eventually, several firearms are found in the car. An official report has been drawn up against the three men for five cases: manslaughter/murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, threats and possession of firearms.
The police action has generated hundreds of positive reactions online. “Finally, don’t hesitate but switch off right away. Hopefully it sends a signal to all the other idiots on the road who refuse to stop. Nicely done people my compliments”, someone responds below the video. Another: “You rarely see such an action so quickly and perfectly executed. If you don’t do this right away, you can just as easily be another half hour behind the scenes.”
