A group of demonstrators who tried to block traffic at the entrance to the A10 near Henk Sneevlietweg was arrested by the police. The 31 detainees were taken to the Meer en Vaart detention complex.
The demonstrators tried to block the entrance to the A10 for traffic with bicycles and banners. The climate activists were quickly removed from the driveway, the police even pulled a number of demonstrators off their bicycles. Nevertheless, according to the activists, the action was successful. “We came here to set up the blockade, mission accomplished,” said one of them. The man was arrested.
According to another activist, it was a shame that they could not participate in the major blockade, but it was ‘essential’ to block the driveway. “It went safely, no accidents. A perfectly successful action.”
The 31 activists who were taken to the cell complex in Nieuw-West will remain in custody until the police interrogate them. The Public Prosecution Service will then decide whether they will remain in custody longer. Several rented cars used by the demonstrators to block the road were also parked at the cell complex.
