Yle’s favorite show A well-known, award-winning TV face Aki Huhtanen, 45, talks about the most painful moment of his life in a recent interview with Seiska. Huhtanen’s seven-year relationship with his partner Emilia’s with came to a sudden conclusion in 2019.
Aki tells how he and Emilia had done everything together and the end of the relationship was a shock.
– There was undeniably depression in the air then. I wondered what the hell he was doing here. You just had to live one day at a time, because that’s what they say, when one door closes, another one opens, Huhtanen says in an interview.
In a village the size of Kilpisjärvi, finding love is not a given.
In the same year, love was found in Huhtanen’s life – from a neighbor. Huhtanen had known his new partner before, but coffee and hiking trips brought them closer in a new way.
– We realized that we are on the same wavelength. Suddenly it just flared up into love and we ended up on a romantic hotel vacation in Tromsø. After that, I thought that it wouldn’t be enough, it seems that something bigger will develop from this, says Huhtanen.
Soon the couple had a baby boy. Now the little one has grown into a toddler fisherman, as his fisherman father describes. Huhta’s younger spouse avoids publicity, but Huhtanen describes this as “rough in a positive way”.

Huhtanes already has a daughter in her twenties. Living everyday life as a baby was a distant memory, but the new life situation quickly brought everything back to mind.
– It feels like you yourself are getting younger on the trip. Acquaintances have wondered if 10 years have gone by. Now it’s a good feeling in every way, says Huhtanen.
