“Elisa Claps”, the case: the clip of the Rai drama with Gildo and Irene

How can we forget the disturbing story of Elisa Claps, the young woman from Potenza who disappeared on a Sunday in September 1993 and was found dead only 17 years later? A story of pain, mysteries and misdirections that has remained in the national memory and which now, after several moments of documentary analysis, takes the form of fiction.

For Elisa – The Claps case is the title of a six-episode series recently broadcast on Rai Uno and now available on RaiPlayin which above all we reconstruct the battle of the victim’s brother, Gildo Claps (Gianmarco Saurino), and the family to obtain justice.

The style of the fiction is “judicial”: we already know the ending (her friend Danilo Restivo will be convicted for the murder of the young Elisa) and the narrative accompanies us towards the obvious outcome by letting us know details of the protagonists of the time.

Elisa Claps (Ludovica Ciaschetti), a sixteen-year-old student of the classical high school of Potenza, entered the church of SS. Trinità on the morning of September 12th and she never left there. Although suspicions were immediately directed towards Restivo, he was even left free to move to England and commit another murder.

For Elisa it is a dutiful act of public service towards one of the many victims of femicide. For those who want to retrace recent crime news through the keys of fiction.
