Jack White hates everything digital. We’ve known that for years. Cell phones are of course included. And alas, someone pulls one out at a concert to take pictures or videos.
Of course, sometimes the truth is a bit more complex. That’s what Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich interpreted in one go podcast talk with presenter Conan O’Brien. The musician is very good friends with Jack White, and after they both poked fun at the singer-guitarist’s cell phone aversion (O’Brien: “I’m going to get a text message right now!”), Ulrich blurted it out.
“I’ll tell you what – and Jack, when you hear this: you know I love you dearly – but for a guy who says he doesn’t have a phone, he’s a pretty dedicated texter,” said the Metallica drummer . “I’m not exactly sure how that works, if it’s his wife’s phone or if he has a computer he’s texting from, whatever.”
A through ball for O’Brien, who then joked: “Besides, he’s so into vinyl and every time I come over to his house he just spins CDs. That’s all he does.”
However, records are not only important to Jack White. Metallica recently acquired their own vinyl pressing plant.
