Footballer Quincy Promes confesses to stabbing in secret telephone tapes

Quincy Promes has confessed in several conversations with his family that he is the perpetrator of a stabbing. The former Ajax player is being prosecuted for attempted murder of his cousin. The Public Prosecution Service suspects 30-year-old Promes that he stabbed his cousin in the knee on 25 July 2020 after a family party in Abcoude.

This is apparent from the criminal file that was viewed by news hour† So far, Promes has always denied the stabbing. In a transcript of telephone conversations he had with relatives, it can be read that Promes wanted to stab his cousin to death.

Just after 1:00 a.m. on the night of the incident, Promes calls his father and asks, “Why are you jumping for that cousin of yours? You saved his life.” His father says, “Quincy, I don’t want you to get in trouble.” And then Promes says, “Otherwise I’ll kill him, don’t you understand?”

in his leg

Then, about ten minutes later, Promes also calls his mother and aunt. In that conversation, his mother says that the nephew has been taken to the hospital. Promes asks them where he hit his cousin. “In his leg,” replies his mother. Promes: “Then he’s still lucky.”

When his father later asks for clarification of the incident, Promes replies: “Yeah, okay, my loyalty is to my aunt: whoever pecks from her, I kill. mother pecks, I kill. There are certain people in the family for whom I kill. Period. (…) You are lucky that I no longer carry a firearm because otherwise that tori (thing, ed.) would still be run uglier.”

Unclear

Promes’ lawyer, Gerard Spong, does not want to comment on the contents of the file. It is unclear why the Public Prosecution Service tapped Promes’ telephone.

Promes currently plays for Spartak Moscow. In February 2021, he left Ajax for the Russian club. Promes played a total of fifty international matches for the Dutch national team.
