Football World Cup 2022 in Qatar – Norwegian Football Association President criticizes FIFA

Qatar is one of the richest countries in the world because of the huge oil and gas reserves there. All physical work is done by more than 2 million guest workers. They work, for example, on the World Cup construction sites, earn little and often have to live in inhumane conditions. Certain employee rights have only existed for a few years. At the Fifa Congress in Qatar, Norway’s football association president Lise Klaveness now dared to speak the truth about Qatar and the lack of human rights to the whole world – and was heavily criticized for it in the football world.

ARD reporter Benjamin Best has been dealing with the conditions in Qatar and the role of FIFA for years, reporting on the conditions there in films. Andreas Ulrich and Kerstin Hermes spoke to him at length.
