Thanks to a goal by substitute Bundesliga striker Andrej Kramaric, Croatia won the last friendly before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.
The attacker from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim scored the decisive goal against Saudi Arabia in the 82nd minute on Wednesday (November 16, 2022) to win the game 1-0.
However, the team around midfield star Luka Modric struggled for a long time in the game in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The outsider, who is also at the World Cup, missed two big chances in the second half.
Modric came on
Modric himself was only substituted on in the 65th minute. Right-back Josip Stanisic from Bayern Munich was also in Croatia’s starting XI.
The Croatians play Belgium, Canada and Morocco in Group F, while Saudi Arabia meets Argentina, Mexico and Poland in Group C.
