SSC Napoli is clearly leading the Serie A table, and there is a lot to be said for the first championship in 33 years. And that has a lot to do with Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen scored his 19th goal of the season in Serie A in the 28th minute of the 2-0 (2-0) win at FC Empoli. Osimhen (24) has scored ten goals in the last eight league games alone.
Empolis Ardian Ismajli had previously met, only he scored his own goal (17th).
In the closing stages, Napoli were outnumbered after left-back Mario Rui saw a red card (67′).
Napoli now 18 points ahead of Inter
Napoli scored their 21st win in 24 league games against Empoli and now leads the table with 65 points. The lead over Inter Milan, runners-up in Serie A, is 18 points. However, Inter could shorten the period with a win against Bologna FC on Sunday (February 26th, 2023) – if you can still call it a shortening.
The third championship in the club’s history is unlikely to be taken away from SSC Napoli. It would be their first Serie A title since the 1989/90 season.
