The co-founder of Rasenballsport Leipzig’s football philosophy and Ralf Rangnick’s mentor, Helmut Groß, has died at the age of 77. The Saxon Bundesliga club announced this on Friday.
“The unexpected death of Helmut Groß shocked and deeply affected me,” said Leipzig’s supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff. “He was a football lover and inspired and influenced an entire generation of football coaches. Helmut accompanied Ralf Rangnick very closely as a mentor for many years and together they developed our (…) football and made it a quality feature.”
