Maffeo commits a foul on Depay, giving the Catalans a free-kick 35 yards, half-left of goal. Alba takes the shot, but his free kick, intended as a cross, goes too long and sails out of the goal, far away from the crowd.

FC Barcelona has 75 percent possession and has dominated events so far. Mallorca is quite low, but the guests have already had two or three moments of switching, which, however, did not really end in danger.

Players are still in the catacombs, but will step onto the grass field in a few moments. For Barcelona today it’s about avoiding their fourth home defeat in a row. This would be a new negative record in the history of the Catalans.

Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre makes five changes to his side’s 2-1 win over Deportivo Alavés. Only Dani Rodríguez remains in the starting XI from midfield and attack. Newcomers are Fer Niño, Ángel, Rodrigo Battaglia, Antonio Sánchez and Franco Russo. The men from the island will play a little more defensively in the 5-3-2 system today.
20:33
Barca boss Xavi makes three changes since losing 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano. In defence, Sergiño Dest and Eric Garcia make way for Dani Alves and Piqué. On offense, Memphis Depay replaces Ousmane Dembélé in the starting position. With the changes, today we see a very experienced Barca squad with an average age of 29.1 years. Tactically, we can expect the usual 4-3-3 system.

RDC Mallorca is fighting for survival in La Liga. The club is currently in 16th place, one point above the line. With a win today you could distance Granada by four points and could at least make a small preliminary decision. After seven league defeats in a row, the kickers from the Balearic Islands were able to win two of the last three games. While they surprisingly beat Atlético 1-0, they also scored an important 2-1 win against Deportivo Alavés in the fight against relegation.

After what was actually a good year in 2022, FC Barcelona recently maneuvered itself into a somewhat larger crisis. In addition to the Europa League end against Eintracht Frankfurt, two of the last three league games were also lost. They lost 1-0 to both Cádiz and Rayo Vallecano. To save the Catalans’ honor, however, it should be said that the defeat against Rayo was unfortunate at best and also due to the referee. Barca is third in the table with 63 points, but can overtake Sevilla with a draw or a win.
