Manchester United have to cope with the week-long absence of their defensive midfielder Casemiro.
As the English football record champions announced on Friday (November 3rd, 2023), the Brazilian national player suffered a thigh injury in the defeat in the round of 16 of the League Cup against Newcastle United (0:3).
This increases the injury concerns for the eighth-placed Premier League team. In addition to Casemiro, other players such as left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and right-winger Amad Diallo are not available to team manager Erik ten Hag. A return to gaming operations is not in sight for all of them.
Comeback in the League Cup
After Casemiro missed three competitive games due to injury, the 31-year-old returned to the starting lineup against Newcastle on Wednesday. When the score was 0-2, he had to be substituted at half-time and the Brazilian will now be out for “several weeks”.
