Football podcast | ‘PSV-Ajax as cup final is a match to look forward to’ | podcast

Ajax to the cup final, the new docuseries about Ronald Koeman, getting transfer-free players from Russia and a look at the Eredivisie. That is the AD Voetbalpodcast today with Etienne Verhoeff and Mikos Gouka.

Ajax had no problems with AZ in the semi-final of the cup tournament. And so we get two top clubs that can decide. ,,PSV-Ajax is of course a great final in advance. When the stadium is full in April, it will be a game to look forward to. Usually a final is never really fun or good. Especially if there is a class difference, think of Ajax-Go Ahead. At Ajax they were always a bit giggly about the cup. It’s a price. But they will certainly be sharp against PSV.”

Yesterday the Wijndal-Ajax setup was discussed in the podcast. But Mikos Gouka also encountered a set-up. ,,I watched Koeman’s documentary on Videoland. And at the end a friend of his son says: ‘I think you are more of a national coach’. Koeman then responds with ‘we will see’ and then the answer comes that he is open to becoming national coach. I think that was also staged.” They also discuss other matters from the docuseries about Koeman.

Ukraine

In the football world, there are also many issues surrounding the war in Ukraine. For example, the FIFPro has announced that players who are under contract in Russia should be able to leave. The contract must be terminated. That would not be unfavorable for Feyenoord and Guus Til. ,,Til obviously earns a mega salary there. So if that contract is terminated, that’s a thing for him. Moreover, Dutch clubs will soon be missing a market to sell players. Russia is now a country you don’t go to, but in recent years a lot of players have been transferred there.”

In the Eredivisie, Gouka does not expect any slips from Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord. ,,AZ has to go to NEC. That is a difficult one.” After which they look at the bottom of the Eredivisie. ,,It is still a large group that is fighting against relegation. That is why Willem II-Heerenveen and Fortuna Sittard-PEC are interesting this weekend.”
