French national soccer player Paul Pogba has been temporarily banned in Italy due to a positive doping test. The 30-year-old was found to have high testosterone levels.

The Italian Anti-Doping Agency confirmed this to the AFP news agency. According to Italian media reports, the midfield star was tested in his club’s Juventus Turin first league game at Udinese Calcio. Pogba was not used but was on the bench.

There is a risk of a four-year ban

Depending on the results of the B sample and the course of the proceedings, he could face a ban of up to four years. Juve also confirmed the ban. The club reserves the right to evaluate the next steps in the process, the statement said.

Pogba has had a difficult year in Turin. Due to knee surgery and other injuries, the 2018 world champion only made ten appearances in the preseason. Pogba also missed the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to his injury woes.
