Football: “Health reasons” – assistant coach Hermann leaves BVB

Status: 07.12.2022 2:35 p.m

Assistant coach Peter Hermann is no longer available to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund for “health reasons”. That’s why national players returned to club training.

In addition to BVB, 70-year-old Hermann also worked for Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke 04 and Hamburger SV. He was also in the service of the German Football Association (DFB) as a youth coach.

“Peter asked us for his release for health reasons. It goes without saying that we have granted his request,” said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

“Health is the most important thing”

The black and yellow were “extremely happy” last summer, “that Peter – although his personal life plans did not provide for this at the time – had decided to spend another year in professional football and for BVB. In him we are not just losing an experienced player , technically excellent trainer, but also a great person,” says Kehl.

In his career, Hermann played more than 1000 games. “Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to stay longer for Borussia Dortmund to work, because of course health always comes first. From now on I will keep my fingers crossed for BVB from afar in all three competitions,” emphasized the football teacher. BVB will decide on his successor in the coming weeks.

National player back in training

Meanwhile, six days after the World Cup debacle, the national players of the Bundesliga soccer club have started training again. Niklas Süle, Youssoufa Moukoko, Nico Schlotterbeck, Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi followed coach Edin Terzic’s call and were on the pitch on Wednesday morning under a slightly cloudy sky and temperatures just above freezing.

The quintet should also fly to the Christmas Cup in Bucharest, where BVB will meet Rapid Bucharest and AC Florenz on Saturday. The club’s clear message: After an unsatisfactory season so far, the reins are being tightened at the table sixth.
