Jürgen Klopp calls, Dominik Szoboszlai follows: Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig apparently loses its Hungarian offensive player to Liverpool FC.

This was reported on Friday evening (June 30th, 2023) by various media, including the “Leipziger Volkszeitung” and the specialist magazine “kicker.” According to this, Klopp’s club used the exit clause a few hours before the deadline and can thus commit Szoboszlai for a fixed 70 million euros.

The fact that Klopp and Liverpool’s new sports director Jörg Schmadtke have increased interest in 22-year-old Szoboszlai has already become known in the past few days. Nevertheless, the supposed agreement lasted until shortly before the clause expired. The Hungarian moved from RB Salzburg to Leipzig in 2021, and he could have competed again in the Champions League with the Saxons. In Liverpool, only the Europa League is initially waiting.

Carvalho takes the other direction

On Friday afternoon, a transfer in the opposite direction was reported as perfect: Portuguese talent Fabio Carvalho is loaned out from Liverpool for a year. The 20-year-old offensive player should take the next development step with the German cup winners, a purchase option was not anchored. Liverpool are also said to have turned down a longer loan.

Carvalho moved from Fulham to Liverpool in 2022 for almost six million euros, but under team manager Klopp he hardly got any match practice.
