Wolfsburg has done this very cleverly so far and has won most duels in midfield. The Wolves continually build up through defense and look for gaps in the Bremen defense. The Werder team has remained close to their teammates so far.

Werder Bremen also prevailed with a commanding 3-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the second round of the DFB Cup and is now in the round of 16 of the cup. Head coach Horsch’s team is also doing well in the Bundesliga. Among other things, there were victories for the Werder team against Nuremberg (5:1), Cologne (3:0) and Leipzig. The Bremen team also got a 1-1 draw against SGS Essen and are in seventh place in the women’s Bundesliga with ten points. The Northern Lights are now seven points ahead of the relegation places. Most recently, however, there was a narrow 0-2 defeat for the Bundesliga leaders.
5:41 p.m
VfL Wolfsburg has been unbeaten in the DFB Cup for ten years. The last defeat came in 2013 in the round of 16 against 1. FFC Frankfurt (0:1). Thanks to this series, the Wolves are favorites today against Bremen, who are seventh in the Bundesliga. The Lower Saxony team won 2-0 against Bundesliga relegated team Turbine Potsdam in the second round of the DFB Cup and deservedly reached the round of 16. For head coach Stroot’s team, this competition has become even more important after failing to qualify for the Champions League group stage. The Wolfsburg women won the title last year. In this Bundesliga season so far, last year’s Champions League finalists only dropped points against Hoffenheim (2:2) and in the top game against FC Bayern Munich (1:2) and are in second place with 19 points Tabel. The league leaders from Munich currently only have one point more.
5:30 p.m
Bremen’s head coach Thomas Horsch rotated his starting lineup three times compared to the 2-0 defeat against FC Bayern Munich. For Matheis, Walkling (both bench) and Lührßen (not in the squad), Weiß, Josten and Dieckmann are in the starting eleven today.
5:15 p.m
VfL head coach Tommy Stroot is making two changes after the 2-0 win against MSV Duisburg last weekend. Endemann and Popp start today for Brand and Kalma (both bank). National player Rauch is missing from the Wolves due to a toe injury and Slovenian Agrež, who was injured in the game against MSV Duisburg, is also not in the squad today.
16:59
Welcome to the round of 16 games in the DFB Cup for women in the 2023/24 season. VfL Wolfsburg meets Werder Bremen at 6 p.m. Referee Miriam Schwermer leads the game.
