For Pilsen, things are not going well internationally yet. The Czechs can no longer qualify for the round of 16 and are in fourth place in Group C with zero points and a goal difference of 3:16. The team of head coach Bílek still has the opportunity to spend the winter in the Europa League but can only do this with the help of the other clubs. In the domestic league, on the other hand, things are going very well for the 2022 Czech champions. After 13 match days and one game less, Victoria Pilsen is at the top of the table with 32 points and is already four points ahead of Slavia Prague. Most recently there was a 3-1 win against Banik Ostrava.

Inter can qualify early for the last 16 of the Champions League with a win against Pilsen today and will not need any support from the late game between FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich if they win. After four games, the Italians are second in Group C with seven points and only suffered a 2-0 defeat against Bayern Munich. Overall, head coach Inzaghi’s side are unbeaten in five games. Things aren’t really going well for Inter in Serie A yet. The Milanese are in seventh place with 21 points after eleven games and are already eight points behind leaders SSC Napoli. Most recently there was a 4:3 win against AC Fiorentina.

For the sixth time, both clubs face each other in a competitive game. The last time this happened in Bruges was during the 2016/2017 Champions League group stage. At that time, Porto had the upper hand 2-1, then also won the home game (1-0), later made it into the round of 16, while the Belgians were eliminated in last place without a point. In fact, Brugge have never progressed through the group stage in nine attempts in the premier class. This blemish has now at least been remedied once. In the previous competition, the European Champion Clubs’ Cup, they reached the finals in 1977/1978 and in the UEFA Cup in 1975/1976. However, only Porto has achieved international title honours. The greatest success was the Champions League triumph in 2004. Then there was the European Cup of Champions in 1987, the Europa League in 2011 and the UEFA Cup in 2003.

Brugge has been unbeaten in four competitive games. The last defeat was at home to Westerlo earlier this month (0-2). They then won at RSC Anderlecht (1-0) and at home against Sint-Truidense (3-0). On Saturday there was a 2-2 draw at runners-up Union Saint-Gilloise. Bruges is third in the table – eight points behind leaders KRC Genk. Porto suffered a 1-0 home defeat by leaders Benfica in Friday’s summit, after five straight wins in all competitions and six unbeaten games. So the dragons are only number 3 nationally – six points behind the top.

In Group B, leaders Bruges have already secured a place in the round of 16. A point today would also mean victory in the group, which the Belgian champions can only dispute at the moment with Porto. The table second would further improve his starting position with a three today. Whether it is enough to advance early in this case will be decided in the late game between Altético Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. The Portuguese champions got off to a bad start in this group stage, losing in Madrid (1-2) and at home to Brugge (0-4). They only found their way in the games against the Werkself (2-0, 3-0). The Belgian champion only recently left something behind at Atlético (0-0). Previously, the two home games against Bayer (1-0) and Madrid (2-0) were won.

At the other end, Sérgio Conceição sends his side off with the same starting formation after Friday’s last game.
