“I think we could have won against Nigeria. At least we had the best chances,” Broos said during the post-match press conference. “But that’s football, sometimes you deserve to win and it doesn’t work out, sometimes you don’t deserve it and it works out. You have to live with that, but at the moment it honestly hurts.”
“We play a bad match (in the quarter-final) against Cape Verde but win on penalties. Now we play a very good match against Nigeria but lose on penalties. That’s football,” Broos reiterated. “Football can be cruel.”
