6:20 p.m
End of 1st half
45.
6:20 p.m
Sallai is released on the right side of the box and passes it flat into the middle. Trapp is there and can intercept the ball.
45.
6:19 p.m
No, it remains a yellow card. Dina-Ebimbe was lucky again. Sildillia can continue playing, that’s the good news.
45.
6:19 p.m
The VAR calls Zwayer to the screen and the situation is checked. Will Dina-Ebimbe get the red card here?
45.
6:17 p.m
Yellow card for Eric Dina-Ebimbe (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Nkounkou can assert himself well on the left lane and then plays flat to the penalty area. The ball is a little too long for Dina-Ebimbe, who comes into the duel against Sildillia too late and kicks Sildillia badly on the ankle. For this he sees the yellow card.
45.
6:16 p.m
There are two more minutes left in the first half. Are we seeing another dangerous action?
45.
6:15 p.m
Official injury time (minutes): 2
45.
6:15 p.m
The set pieces don’t bring any dangerous scenes into this game either, a Dōan corner from the left can just clear Pacho. Both coaches will need to follow up on their teams’ offensive play at halftime.
44.
6:14 p.m
After Sildillia wins the ball, Dōan has some space on the right, but he slows down and runs. So this possibility also evaporates.
42.
18:12
Sallai can position himself centrally in the area and then in the box, and the gap opened up there. But Larsson rushed back in time and was able to fairly separate the Hungarian from the ball.
40.
18:11
Pacho crosses from the left half field, but Marmoush cannot control the ball at the first post. The game remains of rather manageable quality.
38.
6:09 p.m
Now it’s getting tight. Dōan wins a ball and moves to the box on the right. His flat cross doesn’t find a direct taker, but the ball reaches Höler via a detour. He takes a shot from a central position of 14 meters, and after a deflection the ball rolls past one meter to the right. The subsequent corner then poses no danger.
36.
6:06 p.m
In midfield, Dina-Ebimbe gets into an aerial duel with Ginter too late, causing him to crash awkwardly onto the ground. Both actors need to be treated.
34.
6:04 p.m
Chaïbi takes the free kick from a central position on the right to the second post. Team members have arrived there, but cannot reach the ball.
33.
6:03 p.m
Yellow card for Matthias Ginter (SC Freiburg)
Ginter gets a little push from Marmoush in the header duel and therefore jumps past the ball. He corrects this by throwing his arms up and fending off the play equipment forward. For this he sees the yellow card.
32.
18:02
This is typical of Freiburg’s performance so far: Grifo wants to take a free kick from the right half field, but Dōan doesn’t know anything about it. So there is a goal kick for the SGE.
31.
6:01 p.m
At least a conclusion again. A pass from Larsson in a central position was deflected and ended up at Skhiri on the right side of the penalty area. He immediately pulls away with his outside instep, but the flat attempt is no problem for Atubolu.
30.
6:00 p.m
There is simply a lack of clear idea and precision in the final third, especially at Frankfurt. So Marmoush is now holding on to the center of the box. Freiburg, on the other hand, doesn’t even get into this zone; it usually ends at the halfway line.
29.
5:59 p.m
The cross is brought in from the left, Atubolu is there with his fists. Furthermore, it is a game without any real opportunities, apart from Dōan’s early chance.
28.
5:58 p.m
If one team is moving forward, it is the hosts. Chaïbi passes to Buta on the right, who crosses to the second post. However, there is only Sallai there who can clear for a corner.
26.
5:56 p.m
On the right side, Marmoush runs a ball and then asks Sildillia to dance. Atubolu can easily collect his subsequent flat cross.
24.
17:54
Following a corner, Buta Skhiri looks for an interface pass. However, this was played for too long and so there was only a goal kick for Freiburg.
22.
17:53
Lienhart is there for a long ball to Marmoush and clears it with a tackle into the touchline. There is still a lot of work to be done for both teams, opportunities are so rare.
20.
17:51
A long throw from the right from Ginter sails into the penalty area and lands at Sallai’s feet. But the Hungarian doesn’t really finish.
18.
5:48 p.m
A nice long ball lands on the right side of the penalty area to Buta, who looks for Marmoush in the middle with his cross. However, he only finds Eggestein, Freiburg can clarify.
17.
5:47 p.m
Safety is paramount here in the early stages, so Larsson misses the chance to move forward. Instead, he prefers to find his way back through the interior defenders.
15.
5:45 p.m
As expected, the game is very even, both teams are safe, but have problems getting to Vonre in a structured manner. Frankfurt is always looking for the way behind the chain, which Höler often offers to the guests and wants to take part in the combination game.
12.
5:43 p.m
The subsequent corner is dangerous. From the right the cross sails to the first post, where it is extended to Skhiri. From an acute angle, he only manages an arc lamp from the left, which Atubolu can easily pluck down.
11.
5:42 p.m
After a sloppy move by Kübler, Chaïbi finishes from a central position 20 meters in front of the goal. The attempt is one for Atubolu and he deflects it safely to the side.
10.
5:41 p.m
Of course, the VAR looks at the whole thing, but ultimately it’s not enough for a penalty. There is a touch from Kübler, but it is not so strong that Buta has to fall down. The decision is fine, but Freiburg has to be careful.
9.
5:40 p.m
Again it goes over the right, this time Marmoush sends Buta behind the chain. The defender wins the running duel against Kübler and moves into the penalty area, but then receives a slight push and falls to the ground. Zwayer decides to continue playing.
7.
5:37 p.m
On the right side, Buta is sent down the line, but his pass into the penalty area ends up directly at Eggestein. Frankfurt’s offensive efforts are still very timid.
5.
5:35 p.m
The guests have the first good opportunity! Sallai has plenty of space on the right for a cross and brings it to the penalty spot. Dōan is free there and heads towards the bottom right corner. Trapp stretches and is able to direct the ball around the post.
3.
5:33 p.m
Freiburg chooses high pressing at the beginning and goes for it very early. Frankfurt is trying to solve this in a playful way, and it’s working quite well, but no team has really made any progress yet.
1.
5:30 p.m
Then the ball starts rolling. Frankfurt kicked off.
1.
5:30 p.m
Game start
5:27 p.m
At this moment the teams enter the pitch together with referee Felix Zwayer. The game can begin in a few minutes.
5:16 p.m
At Freiburg there is a short-term change in the starting eleven. Gulde has circulatory problems and can’t start, so Sildillia slides in.
5:13 p.m
The statistics give the Breisgauers little hope, Freiburg was only able to win one of the last seven games against Eintracht. Last season, Frankfurt won their home game 2-1, having previously drawn 1-1 in the first leg. The duels are definitely close, so we can look forward to a varied game.
5:00 p.m
Freiburg also had a success during the week, albeit one league above in the Europa League. In a turbulent game, Olympiacos Piraeus was defeated 3-2. In the league, however, things aren’t really going well. After the start looked promising with wins against Hoffenheim and Bremen, they recently had to admit defeat to Stuttgart and then narrowly to Dortmund. The trend reversal should therefore succeed today.
16:47
There is no real favorite in this game, both teams are in the middle of the table with six points after four games. Frankfurt is still unbeaten, the opening win against Darmstadt was followed by draws against Mainz, Cologne and Bochum. So the Eagles aren’t really in the swing of things yet, but at least they got a 2-1 win against Aberdeen in the Conference League. Maybe this can give a boost.
16:36
To start, let’s take a look at the lineups. At Frankfurt, coach Dino Toppmöller made four changes compared to the game during the week. Tuta, Buta, Larsson and Chaïbi start for Smolčić, Rode, Aaronson and Götze. With the exception of Jakić and Rode, he has plenty to draw from. On the other hand, Christian Streich rotates a little more moderately. Gulde and Keitel replace Schmidt and Höfler in the starting eleven. Höfler is missing from the Dortmund game due to a red card suspension, and important players Gregoritsch, Günter and Kyereh are also missing due to injuries. At least Keitel can return to the squad and the starting eleven after adductor problems.
4:25 p.m
Welcome to the end of the 5th matchday of the Bundesliga, today Eintracht Frankfurt and SC Freiburg meet. Kick-off in Deutsche Bank Park is at 5:30 p.m.!
