Compared to the draw against 1. FC Heidenheim, Timo Schultz only made one necessary change. Davie Selke, who is FC’s absolute top scorer with five goals, is out injured and will be replaced by Dejan Ljubicic.

Borussia Dortmund got off to a perfect start in terms of results in Darmstadt. BVB won 3-0 against the Lilies. The Black and Yellows weren’t particularly convincing in terms of play, but given the points they had secured, it probably didn’t matter to them. Thanks to the threesome, the Revierklub currently has 30 points, which is only one point worse than after the first half of the previous season. Since, as is well known, in the end it was enough for what was probably the most exciting championship fight in what felt like an eternity, the Dortmunders have not given up hope for this year either. However, in order to have any chance of knocking on the top again, a win must of course be achieved against the second-to-last team in the table.

For 1. FC Cologne it is the second home game in a row at the start of the year. Timo Schultz’s FC debut saw a 1-1 draw against Heidenheim last weekend. The first half still looked pretty good. After the break, the newcomer took more control and ultimately stole a deserved point from the Rhineland. From the point of view of the Billy Goats, who are in second-to-last place with only eleven points, the point could of course still be important at the end of the season, but the result was too little for a home game against a newcomer to the league. On the other hand, getting something countable today against the favored Dortmund team would be considered an absolute success.

  • Hello and welcome to the 18th matchday of the Bundesliga. At the start of the second half of the season, Borussia Dortmund will be visiting 1. FC Köln. The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. in the RheinEnergieStadion.
