Werder Bremen won the first win of the season against a sleepy Gladbach defense. The Borussia is also waiting for its first own goal this season. The Hanseates took three points to the Weser on Sunday with a 4: 0 (2: 0) success.
The second Bremen attack brought the 1-0 lead: Samuel Mbangula drog the ball from about 15 meters under the crossbar (15th), Jens Stage increased a good ten minutes later (26th). The hits fell through beautiful individual services – the special thing was the Gladbach defense behavior. But more about that later. When Romano Schmid used a legitimate penalty (74th), the Gladbach fans left the stadium in droves. Justin Njinmah used a new defense weakness after passing Victor Boniface to 4: 0.
Gladbach without its own hit
After the two games at the beginning of the season, Borussia Mönchengladbach was still without his own goal. As a result, coach Gerardo Seoane had his team pressed up from the impetus. Bremen keeper Mio Backhaus in particular was put under pressure and promptly showed some uncertainties – from which the hosts could not benefit.
To do this, it was once again offensive how much the injured goal scorer Tim Kleindienst is missing. The offensive could not develop a real goal. Only a shot from Kevin Diks culminated in wild protests by the Gladbacher, because Werder-defender Karim Coulibaly got the ball on the elbows when he turned over when shot, but steered the ball to the corner. The referees quickly agreed that the campaign was not a criminal handball. It should remain the only reasonably exciting situation in the opposing penalty area. For this it went haywire in their own 16.
Reyna sets accents
Werder was more busy in his own defense during the first ten minutes, Cameron Puertas Gladbach goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas tested with a shot. As a result, Shuto Machino appeared in the Bremen penalty area, but pushed the ball from the left from the left to the outside network.
Access Giovanni Reyna tried the home side as a midfield director, also set accents, but could not (yet) tear the game.
Cardboard
Bremen succeeded in this: Samuel Mbangula took a heart from a half -right position of 15 meters and hammered the ball under the crossbar. Nicolas still tore up his arms, but had no chance of defense against the floor. What was difficult to digest for Gladbach’s supporters, as the Mbangula team defended: not at all.
Mönchengladbach’s Franck Honorat and Bremen’s Romano Schmid fight for the ball
A little later, Backhaus threw his fingertips against the approaching Robin Hack after a fee flank – but then there was a unemployment at the back. Because after a blocked flank of the left side, the situation actually seemed under control. However, the Gladbach defender persecuted the second ball with some interest and were outnumbered in their own penalty area. But Stage was able to take a pass in the half right, lay the ball on the right foot and shot flatly into the far corner.
Hack without luck
Robin Hack ensured the best offensive accents on Gladbach, who, however, had no final happiness after passing from Reyna and later also from Franck Honorat. In the second half, Bremen continued where it stopped in the first section of the game.
Gladbach does not get pressure on the opponent
The guests from northern Germany remain patient and had ball and opponents under control. The spectators sometimes interfered loudly into the Gladbach defense game and called in the choir “Go there!”. But when Diks “docking” in the 73rd minute, he hit Mbangula on the foot, referee Matthias Jöllenbeck pointed to the point. Schmid lost Nicolas, and the Borussia supporters turned away with horrors and started their way home.
So the fourth goal of the guests missed, for which the two substituted Boniface and Njinmah were responsible. Boniface served Njinmah, who overcame Nicolas with a chipball. Borussia Mönchengladbach came to a header chance after a quickly executed corner through Haris Tabakovic. But the result of the experiment reflected the current situation of the traditional club from the Lower Rhine: After three match days, Borussia is a goalless in table place 16 and is facing difficult times.
