The regulations are a bit complicated in any case: At Omikron, there is currently no chance of shortening the quarantine of 14 days as an infected person. According to the will of the federal and state governments, this is now to be shortened to ten days.
This change alone would of course give clubs the opportunity to have players more readily available again. With other variants, you can “test yourself” after a few days.
Contact person yes or no?
But it would be even more important that boosted contact persons no longer have to be in isolation. It currently depends on the assessment of the health department whether teammates are classified as contact persons and therefore also have to be in isolation or not.
Everything is done at Bayern to ensure that this is not the case, explained Nagelsmann: “We have tightened the concept again, use several changing rooms, no longer eat together.” Therefore, in Munich, “only” the infected are currently in quarantine.
But there have also been the opposite situations: TSG Hoffenheim and the entire team went into isolation for three days in November. Second division Jahn Regensburg had to postpone his DFB Cup game in autumn due to a team quarantine. Holstein Kiel is missing three players at the start of the second half because they are considered the contact persons of an infected person.
