Decisive lightning start of Duisburg

After two clear defeats, MSV went into the game with a lot of pressure. The lead over Viktoria Berlin, which occupied the first relegation zone, was only one point – but also with one game less. But there was no trace of nervousness at the beginning, instead there was a lot of zest for action in the Duisburg players.

Stoppelkamp had the first good chance in the second minute, but was denied by Freiburg goalkeeper Lars Hunn. Shortly thereafter it became dangerous again for the guests, again it was Stoppelkamp, ​​but this time the ball landed in the goal. This time he intercepted a back pass that was too short and only had to slide it into the empty box to make it 1-0 (6th).

MSV very close to the second goal

MSV also dominated the game afterwards – but was unlucky that a great opportunity for a second goal was denied. After a Stoppelkamp corner, Freiburg’s Hugo Siquet stopped Marvin Knoll’s header with his outstretched arm – but surprisingly there was no penalty (19′). Shortly before the break there was a great chance to make it 2-0, but Hunn saved a shot from Orhan Ademi from close range (43′).

Second half almost without highlights

In the second half, Freiburg got into the game a little better and also had their first good chance. Daniels Ontuzans came to an end and forced MSV keeper Leo Weinkauf to make a brilliant save (56th).

Overall, however, Duisburg had the opposing attacks well under control and their own goal was not in danger all too often. Because there was little relief on the offensive, the MSV still had to tremble for the direct class half. It didn’t get that dicey in the closing stages either, which is why Duisburg was allowed to celebrate at the end.
