As of: October 3rd, 2023 9:32 p.m

SV Sandhausen wins 2-0 at SC Freiburg II and climbs into the upper third of the table in the 3rd league. Freiburg remains second to last with just five points after nine games.

Both teams started the game with enthusiasm, but lacked the necessary precision in promising situations. The home team from South Baden delivered the first goal: Alexander Mühling’s shot just missed the goal (7th). The guests from Sandhausen then got into the game better. Franck Evina serves David Otto, who couldn’t get the ball past Freiburg keeper Niklas Sauter in a one-on-one (9th). Freiburg tried to play possession football, but were caught cold in the 21st minute. Rouven Hennigs received the ball in the penalty area and finished with a powerful shot into the left corner to make it 1-0 for the guests.

The home side continued to show good approaches, but were unable to finish with enough precision. A direct free kick from Fabian Rüdlin was the most promising chance to equalize (34′). However, SVS goalkeeper Rehnen parried the ball. His teammate Luca-Milan Zander had to be substituted injured before the half-time whistle. Sebastian Stolze came on for full-back (41st).

It’s tough for Freiburg: a yellow-red card and a goal conceded in the second half

The second half also started haltingly. Both teams tried to get in front of the opponent’s goal, but were still too poor in finishing. Only the guests could benefit from the numerous changes on both sides. Richard Meier, who had recently been substituted, prevailed after a shot from Otto and the subsequent chaos in the Freiburg defense and increased the score to 2-0 (71′). This goal acted as a small wake-up call for Freiburg. Hamadi Al Ghaddioudi’s shot (73′) was blocked by Tim Knipping. Ryan Johansson’s shot two minutes later hit the left post. As if the game wasn’t going badly enough for Freiburg, Mika Baur, who had already been substituted, received a yellow-red card in the 90th minute after he kicked an advertising board next to the substitutes’ bench out of frustration.

Freiburg remains in 19th place after this game, while SV Sandhausen is in seventh place in the table. SV Sandhausen will get it on Friday evening (October 6th). SSV Ulm 1846 football, which beat 1860 Munich 1-0 on Tuesday evening. Freiburg II has to play against VfB Lübeck on Sunday (October 8th).
