Football | 3rd League: Four goals and one missed penalty – Bielefeld and Halle share the points

As of: December 8th, 2023 8:57 p.m

Arminia Bielefeld missed the big step out of the third division table against Halleschen FC. Fabian Klos missed a great chance from the spot, but made up for his mistake.

The good news first: Arminia Bielefeld is in the 3rd league now unbeaten for four games. However, the East Westphalians were unable to win any of these games. Even at Halleschen FC it was only enough for a 2-2 draw on Friday evening – Fabian Klos went from being a penalty idiot to being a point saver.

But from the beginning: The game between the 13th in the table. and the HFC, which was three places lower down, started off swingingly – no trace of scanning. The hosts fired their first warning shot after just three minutes, and Arminia responded with shots from Kaito Mizuta and Maximilian Großer.

Bielefeld only leads by six minutes

Unlike in many previous games, this time Bielefeld rewarded itself relatively quickly for its effort: Hall goalkeeper Moritz Schulze was able to fend off Nassim Boujellab’s attempt from the edge of the penalty area – but the ball landed right at Mizuta’s feet. He didn’t hesitate for long and hit the far corner from seven meters. The joy of taking the lead only lasted for six minutes, then Tunay Deniz equalized from close range.

After that, both teams took things a little easier for a while before Halle looked for another chance after 37 minutes. But on Jonas Nietfeld’s first attempt, goalkeeper Jonas Kersken made a great save, and a minute later Christopher Lannert blocked the HFC striker’s shot. In the 42nd minute Kersken was actually already beaten, but Großer saved on the line.

Klos misses from the point

There was little offensive from Bielefeld during this phase, but they still had the best chance of taking the lead again: after a foul on Manuel Wintzheimer, Klos took the penalty. However, the striker put the ball next to the post (45th + 2).

The missed penalty seemed to have triggered a defiant reaction in East Westphalia. They came out of the locker room with a lot of momentum and put Schulze to the test several times. However, the hosts’ goalkeeper remained the winner against both Klos and Merveille Biankadi and Wintzheimer.

Captain makes up for the faux pas

Halle only appeared dangerously in front of the Arminia goal again after 74 minutes – but with success. A side kick from Deniz ended up in the net. Bielefeld already seemed defeated when Klos made amends for his faux pas from the point. After a nice cross from Biankadi, the DSC captain only had to hold out his foot.

It was almost enough to win, but Biankadi was denied by Schulze in front of the goal. In the end the points remained divided. There was more in it for the guests, but in the end they at least kept Halleschen FC at a distance.
