The hosts will play in their usual 4-2-3-1 system today. Compared to the recent home defeat against Dynamo Dresden, coach Boris Schommers changes a total of three times. Ex-Paderborn player Marvin Bakalorz has to make do with a place on the bench today and will be represented in the double six by Santiago Castaneda. In addition, the regular right-back Rolf Feltscher is missing today due to a yellow card suspension, Joshua Bitter moves to the outside in his place, while Tobias Fleckstein starts in central defense. Sebastian Mai also comes into the game for striker Benjamin Girth. Otherwise everything remains as usual for the home team. The Zebras hope to be able to build on their recent decent form and achieve an important success today in terms of staying in the league.

Since both teams have their backs against the wall, an attacking approach can be expected from the teams today. Only a win counts – a draw, like in the first leg at the beginning of August, doesn’t really help anyone out. Choosing a favorite remains a tricky matter. While the Duisburg team were able to achieve all three of their wins of the season at home, the Freiburg team have so far won their only two three-pointers away from home. Nevertheless, the current form speaks more in favor of the home team, who could at least say goodbye to the winter break a little more relaxed with a win.

Everything is prepared for THE relegation thriller par excellence. With MSV Duisburg, the penultimate in the table meets the current bottom team from Breisgau today – there’s no more relegation battle! The guests from Freiburg have not been able to win in nine games and have recently suffered five defeats in a row. Accordingly, Thomas Stamm’s team is currently at the bottom of the table, but with a win today they can at least move within one point of the Zebras. However, their current form currently looks significantly improved, especially compared to the start of the season. Boris Schommers’ team recently remained unbeaten three times in a row before suffering a home defeat against Dresden last weekend. With a win, MSV could move within two points of the safe shore, and that can only be the goal today.
Welcome to the 20th matchday in the 3rd league! At 7:00 p.m., MSV Duisburg will welcome the second representative of SC Freiburg in the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena at the end of the year.
