The SG Dynamo Dresden missed the long-awaited home win against the Freiburg second team. In a game with a lot of idle time, both opponents separated with a 1:1, whereby the Saxons were closer to a threesome. Dresden again failed to report back in the promotion race.

Lots of idle time and only one chance in Freiburg

The game started after just 27 seconds with a good opportunity for the hosts when Ahmet Metin Arslan crossed into the center from the right, where Stefan Kutschke didn’t catch the ball properly and Freiburg keeper Niklas Sauter was able to pick up the ball easily. Dynamo followed suit and hardly allowed Freiburg to develop. Nevertheless, the Breisgauer scored a half-chance through Vincent Vermeij, who headed the ball wide of the goal from close range (16th). As a result, the game was laughed at. There were always fouls that hampered the flow of the game. In addition, both teams repeatedly failed to concentrate, which caused bad passes. So it took until the 35th minute before there was the first big chance. A header from Dresden landed at Arslan, who volleyed from the edge of the penalty area and forced keeper Sauter to make the first real brilliant move.

Ahmet Arslan (Dynamo Dresden) tears his hair. He had the best opportunity before the break.

It continued to be a tough affair after the break as both sides continued to make mistakes. In the 69th minute, Dynamo then took the lead through Arslan, who after two extended headers from Kutschke and Kade took the ball with his left heel and netted it from 16 meters into the left corner. But the joy didn’t last long, because Yannick Engelhardt hit the far corner from 18 meters on the other side (72′). SGD keeper Sven Müller did not cut the best figure.

However, Dresden was not deterred by the equalizer and tried to regain the lead. Kutschke almost scored this in injury time after two sets, but Sauter was always there. When Kutschke had his last chance, a header, the attacker was hit in the face with a foot by Sandrino Braun-Schumacher in the penalty area, but the referee apparently did not notice the foul. So it remained a draw.

votes on the game

Coach Thomas Stamm (SCF II in Magenta Sport): “I think we were the more active team. We did a lot more in terms of playing with the ball, even over 90 minutes. Dynamo only made long balls on their double lead. And But we defended it well. It is clear that there are always a few situations where you finally feel the force of Dynamo. But we did a lot more than Dynamo in terms of play.”
