Foodies’ lazy script fits neatly into the romantic genre ★★☆☆☆

foodies

They are arch enemies, bio-food blogger Sam (Sanne Vogel) and ‘fit girl’ Lilian (Holly Mae Brood), both in the race for their own cooking show. foodies, by soap opera veteran Mannin de Wildt, pokes fun at the eating idiocy and the pressure of followers on social media. There is also a smooth publisher (Loek Peters), who wants to squeeze Sam into such a ‘yoga killer body’.

Leading character Vogel is charmingly clumsy, opponent Brood has a pleasant steely venom. Too bad about the script, which leans lazily on a ramshackle plot: chef Marco (Sinan Eroglu) has no idea that new flame Sam is the one who destroyed his restaurant. Tough dialogue too, in their private conversations.

Further fits foodies neatly within the romantic genre: young woman gets confused in the modern world and finds herself again with a stable man: ‘I want to be who I am, with you.’
