Food delivery service Delivery Hero remains in the red for the first half of the year

BERLIN (Reuters) – The food delivery service Delivery Hero narrowed its loss somewhat in the first half of the year.

The adjusted operating minus decreased to 323 million euros from 350.8 million euros a year ago, as can be seen from the semi-annual report published on Thursday. The company, which is now listed in the MDax, made progress in its plan to leave the loss zone, especially in Asia. In Europe, on the other hand, Delivery Hero slipped back into the red. Overall, the margin in the first half of the year was minus 1.6 percent.

The gross merchandise value (GMV) increased by 50.4 percent to a good 20 billion euros, and sales improved by 46 percent to 4.2 billion euros. Delivery Hero continues to benefit from the fact that people around the world have gotten used to ordering their meals online and having them delivered to their homes during the Corona crisis. In the meantime, the company no longer only delivers restaurant food, but also groceries. A warehouse network was set up for this purpose, which now consists of 1125 locations worldwide.
