Seed companies Incotec and Enza Zaden both donate a substantial amount to the West Friesland Food Bank. An extra financial boost to ensure that families living below the poverty line continue to be helped. The combined amount is almost twelve thousand euros. And let that come in handy. “Our bus is almost breaking down.”
The money is desperately needed, emphasizes coordinator Han Neef. The bus with which they visit suppliers and supply collection points in the region needs to be replaced. “And without a bus we are nowhere. The families who come to collect a food package every week live throughout the region. So this comes at a good time. We are very grateful to them,” he says.
The money will be used to purchase a new bus. “About ninety families in West Friesland are currently dependent on the food bank. A relief that we can really use now.”
Region helps each other
The choice was quickly made for Incotec. “The mission of our company is to contribute to food security with our technology. Not only in Europe but also worldwide. And our parent company Croda’s mission is ‘Smart science to improve lives’. What fits this better than the food bank, which is ready for families who are (temporarily) less fortunate?” says Tessa Wehrmeijer, safety advisor at Incotec.
At Enza Zaden, employees were given the opportunity to donate money to the food bank during the Christmas market. There was a good response. No less than six thousand euros was raised.
