The Foo Fighters have canceled their upcoming performance at the Grammy Awards. The cancellation follows news of the death of band member Taylor Hawkins, who died in Bogotá, Colombia, hours before performing at the Estéreo Picnic festival last week.
Tragically, the Foo Fighters’ performance was announced just a day before the drummer’s death. The band had already canceled their planned tour a few days ago. “We regret and share our disappointment that we will not be seeing each other as planned,” they wrote. “Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to have our loved ones with us, and to cherish all the music and memories we’ve made together.”
Although the band will not perform at the gala itself, there will be a tribute to Hawkins. “We will honor his memory in some way,” Jack Sussman, CBS executive vice president of specials, music and live events, told Variety. “We want to figure out what’s the right thing to do that’s respectful of everyone involved. we are patient We plan to the end.”
The Foo Fighters are nominated for three Grammy Awards this year: Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album.
