Apple fans are eagerly waiting for new iPad models. So far this year these have not happened. But Apple apparently has special plans for a new model that could come soon. According to reports, a foldable tablet is planned. TECHBOOK reveals what is known so far.
The new Apple Pencil was recently introduced. Basically good news, but the launch of new iPads was actually expected as part of the release. Fans hoped in vain because Apple did not introduce a new model of the popular tablet. But now the about-face. Insiders report that a foldable iPad should appear in late 2024 or early 2025. In the Apple cosmos, that would be a minor sensation.

This is what the new foldable iPad could look like
Foldable gadgets are becoming more and more popular. While it was believed that the trend had long since passed or would not catch on, more and more well-known tech companies are currently presenting foldable devices. These include major manufacturers such as Samsung, Google, Motorola and Oppo. There has also been speculation about Apple for a long time that the company could possibly bring a foldable iPhone onto the market. So far, the manufacturer has owed us this. But instead of an iPhone, there will now be a foldable iPad, as serious sources report. There were already rumors about such a tablet at the beginning of 2023, but after that it quickly became quiet.
Meanwhile, the rumor mill is bubbling again. The MacRumors insiders, citing the Taiwanese newspaper Digitimes, report that the Cupertino company would be intensively involved in the development of a foldable iPad. There are already pictures of what the iPad Fold could look like on social media, including on X (formerly Twitter).
Just a foldable iPad or several Apple tablets?
The Digitimes report also states that Apple has been working on the design of the foldable iPad for four years and is still not finished. The display or panel and the hinges would cause problems, among other things. When it comes to displays, Apple is hoping for support from Samsung and LG, among others. However, nothing further is known about the further technical details. There is also no information available about the price at this time. However, the foldable iPad could be a very large tablet, as foldable devices are generally larger than the classic models.
But it shouldn’t just stay with the foldable iPad. The well-known Apple expert Mark Gurman writes in his current Bloomberg newsletter “Power On” that several other Apple tablets are to come before the foldable iPad. More specifically, he is talking about the iPad Air (6th Gen), iPad mini (7th Gen) and a “normal” iPad (11th Gen), which are apparently scheduled for release in spring 2024. According to Gurman, a revised iPad Pro is also in the works, which could come with an OLED upgrade. Fixed prices are not yet known, but TECHBOOK has already reported that the new iPad Pro could be more expensive than ever.
