The railway network in Madrid has suffered three mishaps in the last 15 days. Specifically, the last one occurred this Friday at dawn when Cercanías was cutting the Recoletos tunnel after a new derailment of a train upon entering Atocha, the third in less than 15 days. In the afternoon of the same day, the service was suspended again, this time to carry out planned tests on the behavior of the trains on this track.
This situation has aroused criticism from the Madrid City Council of Puente, who has been asked to “take the reins” of the problems in the region’s Cercanías network. “It is occurring more and more frequently, with less and less time separating one incident from another.. Until now, fortunately, nothing really serious has happened, other than the great inconvenience of citizens, which is enough,” said the delegate of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, this Friday.
The mayor and several members of the PP blocked in X
Furthermore, the minister has been criticized for blocking the mayor of Madrid from his X account, José Luis Martínez-Almeida and several members of the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid, such as the delegate of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabantethe general secretary of the PP of Madrid, Alfonso Serranoand the account of the party in the Community of Madrid.
In this regard, Carabante criticized these events this Saturday and assured that despite this they will continue “denouncing the risk posed by derailments on Cercanías“.
To this, Óscar Puente has responded on the same social network by publishing a column written by Carlos Alsina in which he analyzes the reason for blocking this social network. “Just because you are a councilor, advisor or president does not exclude you from belonging to any of the categories mentioned in it. Twitter is not life. On Twitter you choose company,” he launched.
