The British multinational Tate & Lyle has gone to court to break the strike at their Zaandam factory. According to the trade union FNV, this jump in the corner is only intended as intimidation towards the employees.

Work at the Tate & Lyle factory in Koog aan de Zaan has been halted for almost two weeks. The FNV is in a serious conflict with the group about employment conditions. The union is demanding that employers use automatic price compensation to compensate workers for rising living costs.

Under pressure from the strike, the employer has slightly improved its final offer with a one-off payment and a structural salary increase. But Tate & Lyle refuses to agree on the price compensation for which the members of FNV are on strike. Earlier, the trade union CNV, which did not participate in the strikes, did accept the final offer.

Director Jos Hendriks of FNV Food Industry: “These are employees who work very hard to fill the greenhouse of this food producer and want to share in this through decent wage agreements.”

The lawsuit over whether the strike can continue is set for Monday, June 20 at 11 a.m.
