Fnatic almost caught up a big gap against MAD Lions in the League of Legends league LEC. At the crucial moment, however, the team lacked damage. G2 had little trouble with SK.
“I think they could have ended it if they had landed their goals,” said MAD midlaner Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer in the post-game interview. “I have nothing against them but beating every team feels good. We really needed it.”
After a desolate winter season, Fnatic showed improvement in spring. Nevertheless, the early end threatened in the group phase against MAD Lions. The runners-up secured the first game, but Fnatic equalized in the second game.
In the third game, Fnatic started a strong comeback after early mistakes. An attack on the base would almost have been enough, but a few seconds were missing to decide. MAD Lions finished off all five players in time and won the following team fights.
The game of G2 Esports was less tight. In the duel with SK Gaming, the defending champion was not without mistakes, but still kept the opponent out of the game and won comfortably.
