Rio de Janeiro, June 24 (EFE).- With one less player on the field, Fluminense defeated Bahia 2-1 this Saturday in their comeback at the Maracanã stadium and returned to the top three in the Brazilian Championship standings.

With goals from Lelê and Gabriel Pirani, the Rio de Janeiro team provisionally rose to third position with 21 points, pending the other matches of matchday 12, which will be played on Sunday and in which Gremio and Flamengo threaten their new position.

Those led by Fernando Diniz allowed themselves to be unseated from the leadership weeks ago.

Botafogo occupies that position with 27 points, 5 more than Palmeiras, which follows it in second position.

Fluminense began losing to Bahia with a goal from Vinicius Mingotti, who, almost immediately, suffered a foul by Nino, who ended up sent off.

Fluminense’s comeback came in the second half with almost simultaneous goals from Lelê and Gabriel Pirini.

In another match of the day, Athletico Paranaense defeated Corithians 1-0 in a match in which Víctor Roque, the young revelation that Barcelona wants, shone once again.

The 18-year-old striker scored the winning goal for the Curitiba city club in the 36th minute and narrowly rounded off the double ten minutes later, but the score was annulled by VAR.

An unexpected victory this Saturday was that of Fortaleza 2-1 over Atlético Mineiro.

The day continues on Sunday with five games.
