The four-time Brazilian football champions Fluminense have reached the final of the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The team from Rio de Janeiro defeated Al-Ahly Cairo 2-0 (0-0) in the semi-finals and is now waiting for its opponent: This will be between Champions League winners Manchester City in the second semi-final on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.). and the Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan.
For Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense, Jhon Arias (71′) took the lead with a penalty kick in Jeddah. John Kennedy (90th) made the decision for the favored Brazilians, who included former Real Madrid professional Marcelo in the starting line-up.
The Club World Cup will take place for the last time in the old format with seven teams. After a year’s break, the successor tournament will take place from 2025 with 32 participating teams, including German record champions Bayern Munich. The first host is the USA.
