Since the Italian Series of Poker moved to Campione d’Italia, the ISOP title has always gone to foreign lands. In the event that just ended, Florin Bilan brought home the biggest picture, defeating Federico Castiglioni in the final head-to-head. Third place for Alessandro Giordano

From a certain point on he always had quite a few chips. With three remaining, Federico Castiglione had pulled away from his direct rivals but then, in the final head-to-head, the Romanian Florian Bilan prevailed and was always full. He is the winner of the ISOP stage two Main Event.

THE TOP FIVE DO NOT REACH THE PODIUM

Every day is another story. The road is still long. When we use these (fact) phrases by associating them with the path of a poker player in a tournament, we almost always tell the truth and the final day of the ISOP Main Event was no exception. We started with 16 contenders led by Cosimo Laganà: behind him were Nicolò Galvagni, Ralph Da Silva, Gianluca Capasso and Andrea Carini. Well, none of them made it to the podium! It was a final day characterized by aces. In the early levels of the game, on at least 4 occasions, a player turned over the strongest starting hand in poker. Really Federico Castiglioni he tapped them on the first hand, eliminating a short, and then a few orbits later running into pocket kings. The eliminations followed one another quite rapidly and within 2 hours or so the final table was made. The chip count of the new finalists saw Alessandro Giordano in the lead with 5.7 million chips but even in this case… the road to the title was decidedly long. Nothing to do for Tianchi Zhouin the second tournament of his career, who lost allin preflop and saw his AK “exploded” by A9

FLORIAN BILAN IS THE WINNER OF THE MAIN ISOP

After the first skirmishes, eliminations came in rapid succession: among the first goodbyes, there was that of Nicolò Galvagni, while close to the break Andrea Carini abandoned the contest. In the meantime Florian Bilan took chip after chip and it was always him who sent Ralph Da Silva to the till. It seemed like a triumphal march but then Federico Castiglioni took the chair. A “heavy” hand was the one that led to the elimination of Roberto Urso who pushed the last 800,000 chips, called by the usual Bilan. Castiglioni, on the BB, raised to 2 million. Call from Bilan who folded on Federico’s allin once a flop featuring low cards fell. The pair of women from “Casti” also beat the Jacks of Urso. Women who were fatal in Laganà. With 3 players left, Castiglioni had over half the chips. Alessandro Giordano waved in third place. After a deal between Bilan and Castiglioni, the final head-to-head always saw the Romanian with the point. Few chances for the blue who lost two big pots. Last coinflip in favor of Bilan who returns home with the ISOP framework
