English indie pop band Florence + the Machine have released the fourth single from their forthcoming album DANCE FEVER, ‘Free’. In the accompanying music video, again directed by American photographer-director Autumn de Wilde, British Golden Globe-winning actor Bill Nighy plays Florence Welch’s fear personified. It is she who the song is about, she accompanies Florence at every step and has her in her hands. The goal: to detach oneself from her, to free oneself, to be free.

The band, centered around singer-songwriter Florence Leontine Mary Welch, previously released music videos for the singles “my love“, “King” and “Heaven Is Here“. The fifth album by Florence + the Machine DANCE FEVER will be released on May 13th and was created during the corona pandemic in London. It reflects phenomena associated with the pandemic, such as isolation, interpersonal distancing, and a longing for communication, but will also explore ideas of “identity, masculinity and femininity, redemption and celebration,” according to the band.

The video was recorded before the current war in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. For every ticket that Florence + the Machine sells for their upcoming US tour, the band will donate one dollar to the charity Choose Love, which cares for refugees around the world.
