Florence and the Machine says OP saved her life

Florence Welch had to cancel two gigs due to emergency surgery. The exact reason remains unknown.

Florence and the Machine only had to cancel their appearances at the Zurich Open Air and the Rock en Seine Festival in Paris on the weekend of August 26th to 27th. The reason for this was the health of Florence Welch, who, according to an Instagram post, is recovering from life-saving surgery. “I’m so sorry I had to cancel the last few shows. My feet are fine. I had to have emergency surgery for reasons I don’t feel strong enough to explain yet, but it saved my life.”

More detailed information about the circumstances has not yet been made public. However, the Brit broke her foot in November 2022, which is why she had to cancel some of her UK shows at the time.

Furthermore, the 37-year-old also sees parallels to her indie songs in her current suffering: “Suffice it to say that I wish the songs were less accurate in their predictions. But creativity is a way of coping, mythology is a way of creating meaning,” she alludes to the lyrics of her song “Choreomania”. The song, which appeared on the 2022 album DANCE FEVER, reads “I just kept spinning and I danced myself to death”.

Despite everything, Florence Welch promises to end her current tour in Lisbon and Málaga with her band on September 1st and 2nd – albeit with fewer dance numbers.
