Floortje Dessing on a mat at Telegraaf: ‘She puts on a fine dress’

Floortje Dessing, like Dolf Jansen, has been called to the fore by De Telegraaf, because she is both a climate activist and a frequent flyer. “She puts on the sackcloth,” reads the newspaper.

Climate change is a hot topic for Floortje Dessing, but at the same time she decides not to stop flying frequently for her travel programs for the public broadcaster. She realizes that flying is polluting, but also thinks it is important to show that you can lie in a hammock in Belize.

fine dress

It is according to The Telegraph difficult to reconcile. The newspaper has therefore sounded the alarm with the presenter of BNNVARA. “When asked whether she has any conscientious objections, Dessing puts on the garb.”

Floortje responds as follows: “I have always been convinced that flying is by definition not green and that it will not be green in the short term, unfortunately. Flying is and remains polluting, period.”

more aware

However, Floortje says she is becoming more and more conscious of life. “I started thinking more about what I want to achieve with the programs for which I take the plane. Constantly ask myself: is this worth it? Am I contributing something with this? For now, I think the answer is ‘yes’.”

She continues: “We hope to inspire viewers to live more sustainably, or at least make them think. My crew consists of two people (the cameraman and me), we take as many direct flights as possible and yes; we compensate our CO2 emissions.”
