Floor Jansen: Wilhelmus at Formula 1 adapted to my reach | show

The arrangements of the Wilhelmus that Floor Jansen sings on Sunday at the start of Formula 1 at Zandvoort, have been adapted to her range. In conversation with the ANP, the 41-year-old singer says she is proud of that.

“Very special that they have done that, because that is not something everyone can say!” says Jansen, who is accompanied by the Royal Air Force Orchestra when singing the national anthem. “It’s really adapted to my range, so it’s not just the standard music being played.”

According to Jansen, the fact that the composition of the national anthem for Sunday is tuned to the voice of the Dutch soprano is also very nice, according to Jansen. ,,They said you are known for your high notes, so we want to do something with that. And they did. I now get the chance to use my voice as I can, and also the chance to sing a version of the Wilhelmus that is not standard. Really great!” says the frontwoman of the metal formation Nightwish.

nerves

Nevertheless, there are some nerves at Jansen, who is currently also busy recording her first solo album that will be released next year. ,,Certainly. I’m used to being on stage with my band and singing our songs. We are a well-oiled machine in this. But now I’m suddenly alone on that track, with all those drivers in front of me, not to mention all that army of cameras pointing at me and all that audience watching. And I’ve only got one minute to prove myself, huh? I have to get into it right away and can’t see if my voice works first. It is really very out of my comfort zone!”

The Wilhelmus of Floor Jansen can be heard on Sunday around 2.45 pm, fifteen minutes before the start of the race in the seaside resort.
