Floating windmill Venray was too close to trees: eight injured | Inland

The NVWA launched an investigation at the fairgrounds. The operator has decided to close the attraction. The whirligig will no longer open during the Venrayse fair

The attraction itself is safe, the NVWA said after an investigation. “However, the site of the attraction has been assessed as unsafe. Our inspectors determined that there was not enough space at the designated location to run the attraction safely. They saw a loose tension strap hanging in the adjacent tree, so that branches could end up in the turning circle of the whirligig. This may have caused the incident.”

The operator may be subject to a fine from the NVWA, because he must ensure that the aircraft does not pose a danger to the occupants. As long as the device cannot run safely, the NVWA may no longer use it.

Around 10:20 p.m., the victims were in the Europe Flyer, a whirligig that goes 40 meters into the air. The municipality calls on other occupants of the attraction and bystanders to report for contact and aftercare.
