A gruesome find for the police on Monday afternoon. Several plastic bags with dumped animal remains float in the Wilhelmina Canal in Dongen.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious situation near the canal. When they arrived they found the floating plastic bags. Together with a company that maintains the canal, they took to the water in a boat to remove the large bags. After opening these bags, it turned out, to their ‘great surprise’, to be animal remains.
The plastic bags are said to be filled with smaller mammal remains, according to the police spokesman. It is not yet clear what kind of animal remains are involved and where they come from.
The police spokesperson cannot yet say anything about the situation and reports that they have handed over the investigation to the animal police.
