Flikken Maastricht has a completely different competitor this season than it had counted on. Without The Voice of Holland facing it, the police series is the undisputed winner of Friday’s TV.
Angela Schijf and Victor Reinier again took gold on prime time yesterday. Their police series Flikken Maastricht could count on an audience of more than 1.6 million viewers (28% market share). This keeps NPO 1 far ahead of the competition. RTL 4, which has had to do without The Voice for a while, attracted 1.1 million viewers (18%).
Criticism of Cops
Despite those sky-high scores from Flikken, there are still viewers who become grumpy about the police series. Andy complained on Twitter last night: “While I’m doing something, Flikken Maastricht is on in the background. I have not once been able to detect a #Limburg accent. Only the soft g of a Brabander.”
Completely unbelievable, Andy thinks so. “Obviously, for the rest, only Gooise figures live there in South Limburg. Who steps in here, NPO 1?”
One Rico then says: “Is the same as at Flikken Rotterdam… Rotterdam accent is rarely noticeable…”
Why not?
Leading actress Angela Schijf explained in the Flikken Podcast last week why people do not speak with a Limburg accent. “Eva is of course a girl who was drawn from Limburg clay (…) So we first thought that Eva would really speak Limburgish,” she says in the podcast.
After three days of shooting, however, she was called by the then producer Reinout Oerlemans. “It’s so strange that you are the only one with that Limburg accent and the rest don’t,” he told her. She: “Of course he had a point there, so that was Limburgish.”
Astrid scores too
The battle for prime time was not only between Flikken Maastricht and I Can See Your Voice. The Astrid Joosten quiz Twee voor Twaalf was in between these two programs in terms of viewing figures. 1.1 million people (17%) watched it. After Flikken Maastricht, the Gouden Loeki ceremony still had 921 thousand viewers (19%).
The other most watched prime time titles were Jinek with 788 thousand viewers (17%) on RTL 4, Nieuwsuur with 732 thousand viewers (14%) on NPO 2, VI Today with 733 thousand viewers (15%) on SBS 6, De Clipped Guest with 645 thousand viewers (11%) on NPO 2 and De Alleskunner with 621 thousand viewers (10%) on SBS 6.
Viewing figures
Programs that did not reach the top fifteen viewing figures include Hart van Nederland (605 thousand), Shownieuws (513 thousand) and HLF8 (294 thousand).
