Flight of Antoinette and Pieter has been canceled: ‘We’re really disappointed’

Transavia announced on Wednesday morning that several return flights from Eindhoven Airport to Spain had been cancelled. Antoinette de Rie and her husband Pieter van Wijngaarden from Eindhoven were looking forward to a long weekend in Barcelona. They were only told on Wednesday afternoon that their flight was cancelled. “The suitcases were already packed and ready to go to Eindhoven Airport. We are very disappointed,” says Antoinette.

Due to various reasons, the airline had too few aircraft available. The flight of Antoinette and Pieter was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon ten to half past five.

“I suddenly received an email from Transavia this afternoon. I was still doing all kinds of things for work. Fortunately, I saw the email passing by: ‘We have news for you. The trip to Barcelona has been cancelled. Please contact your travel organization ‘.”

The travel organization TUI is now looking for Antoinette and Pieter to see if there are other options to travel to Barcelona after all.

“In this way, flying becomes a Russian Roulette.”

Antoinette already suspected something strange was going on. “Two weeks ago we already saw that our return flight from Spain had been moved from evening to morning on Monday.”

The Eindhoven resident hopes for a good alternative for this weekend. “I had already bought tickets for the Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell and the hop-on-hop-off bus. That is also added. We also wanted to spend a few days in the sun. In Barcelona it is now 22 degrees. Are we missing out on that too?”

Antoinette thinks it is a bad thing that Transavia cannot guarantee travelers their flight. “In this way, flying becomes a Russian Roulette.”
